As part of H.H. The Late Sheikh Zayed Falcon Release Program, Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital participated on the release of 66 wild falcons in Kazakhstan from 26th to 28th May 2012. 44 Peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus) and 22 Saker falcons (Falco cherrug) were released in Kurchum, Kazakhstan. 4 of the peregrine falcons and 5 of the saker falcons were fitted with battery powered satellite transmitters to monitor their flight paths and to gather scientific data about their survival rates.
The Falcon Release Program is being conducted every year since 1995 during spring time to return these wild falcons to their original habitat in order to conserve the wild falcon population. So far, a total number of 1461 falcons have been released to the wild through this program.
